Here is how I think about growth/viral marketing (for consumer products)

Before you build

Before you even build anything make sure you have a distribution edge

• What is a distribution edge?

  • You should have an advantage in a specific niche (ex. let's say your friend owns an Instagram page about boxing with 1m followers. If you and your friend partner up you will have a distribution edge in the boxing niche.

• What should you do once you have a distribution edge?

  • Build something that leverages your distribution edge. If your friend has a boxing Instagram page then build a boxing product ex. like kayyo.

  SEO is one of the most underrated and overlooked channels. Think about it.. Google processes over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide.

  These searchers are ready to buy. Unlike social media traffic, searchers deeply trust Google search results. So the chances of them clicking your website in the search results are really high

  So you NEED to be in the top 1-10 rankings on Google for major search terms for your business

  And usually, your competition either:

  1. Isn’t doing SEO. You can own all of the major keywords and get a head start on your competitors
     • You can own a large percentage of keywords. This is just one really small example of a keyword that we own a large share in for Musicfy. We own tens of thousands more of these types of high intent keywords

  2. Your competitors are doing SEO but they’re doing a horrendous job

  The other major benefit of SEO is that you’ll build a long-term, sustainable growth channel. Once you get to 500 clicks/day (15k clicks per month) through SEO, you will maintain that growth for 6-12 months without having to touch it.
